Getting to the Hôtel Diderot


If you fly to France, Chinon is accessible through the following airports :
Roissy, Tours and Nantes.

By train: Whether coming directly from Charles de Gaulle Airport/Roissy or from Paris (Montparnasse Station), you can book your train travel directly to Chinon; you will take the TGV through either Saint Pierre des Corps (Tours) or Tours Centre then a local train (TER) or bus (car) to Chinon. The hotel is an easy 8 minute walk from the Chinon station.

Once in Chinon: The train station is an easy 8 minute walk to the hotel: take the Avenue du Docteur Pierre Labussière straight in front of the station; this turns into Rue du 11 novembre. Take a right upon arriving at the Place Jeanne d’Arc. A Caisse d’épargne bank marks the corner of rue de Buffon. Take rue de Buffon straight until you walk right into the hotel courtyard.

By car from Paris: Take the A10 highway and leave it in Tours (exit n° 24), heading towards Joué-les-Tours – Chinon. Ride the N585, then the A85 towards Ballan-Miré – Chinon. Take exit n° 9 towards Azay-le-Rideau – Chinon. Ride the D751 towards Chinon, then follow directions. * If you fly into Paris and wish to rent a car, you can do this either at the airport or once you arrive by TGV in Saint Pierre des Corps.

By car from Bordeaux: Take the A10 highway towards Paris, and leave it at Sainte-Maure de Touraine (exit n° 25), then ride D760 towards Chinon, then follow directions.

By car from Rennes and Nantes: Follow the signs for Nantes, then Angers, then Tours through A85. Exit at Bourgueil and then follow Avoine – Chinon – centre ville.

Once in Chinon: Like in many medieval towns, your GPS can mislead you. Trust the hotel signs and your instinct : the hotel entrance is on 2 rue Lavoisier. Find Place Jeanne d’Arc, a large open parking lot on the north bank of the Vienne River, circle around Place Jeanne d’Arc to rue de Buffon - a Caisse d’Épargne bank is on the corner. Take rue de Buffon to the corner of rue Lavoisier and you will drive right into the hotel’s courtyard.
